New Year, New Coffee... Hello El Salvador!

With the thrills and jollies of Christmas coming in thick and fast, here at Shop House Coffee we thought we'd keep the excitement rolling by introducing our new coffee to end the year and start the next. On our coffee tour of the world next up is a fantastic delicious coffee from the heart of El Salvador.

Finca Divina Providencia is the farm where this coffee is grown by the passionate and driven farmer, Roberto Ulloa, located in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec Mountain Range. Roberto has built up this high quality coffee producing farm which compromises of 7 hectares by purchasing abandoned farms of high altitudes (1800m - 2600m) to enhance the quality of the coffee cherries.

Roberto draws coffee cultivation knowledge from every available source. From ancient maxims of land stewardship to modern plant biology, Roberto strives to know and use it all. Thanks to all his hard work, his plants are thriving in a diverse ecosystem and producing high-quality coffees. In addition to coffee, Roberto also cultivates vegetables and fruit trees.

Coffee is selectively handpicked and processed on Roberto’s farm. Once picked, ripe, red cherry is laid on raised drying beds. Cherry is turned frequently to ensure even drying. It takes approximately 20 to 30 days for cherry to dry. Dried cherry is stored on the farm for 1 to 2 weeks before being transported to Productor’s dry mill in Juayua, Sonsonate, where it is prepared for export before arriving here in Lincolnshire at our roastery.

We have roasted this coffee to a medium to dark roast to enhance the flavours within the delicious coffee, nothing says winter warmer like tasting notes of toffee, fudge, dark chocolate and red berries. Works well in milk based coffees. Click here to try.
